‘K-Pop Night Out’ Returns to Music Matters Live 2014!’
KOCCA (Korean Creative Content Agency) is proud to announce that 5 bands have been officially selected to take the stage at the highly anticipated Music Matters 2014 (May 21-25, 2014).
Following up on a series of successful showcases around the world, KOCCA is returning to ‘K-Pop Night Out at Music Matters Live 2014’ showcase (May 23 @ Clarke Quay) with special performances by psychedelic rockers Asian Chair Shot (2014 Korean Music Awards - Rock Album of the Year Winner), funky disco dancers Sultan of the Disco (2014 Korean Music Awards - Electronic/Dance Album of the Year Nominee), modern rock legend Jaurim (2014 Korean Music Awards - Modern Rock Album of the Year Nominee), indie pop sensation Daybreak (2013 MNet 20s Choice Award - Hot Band Award Winner), and K-Pop singer Lim Kim (2014 Seoul Music Awards - Best New Artist Winner).
LIM KIM
Lim Kim, the lead vocalist of duo Togewol (top competitor on popular audition program "Superstar K"), has been praised far and wide by music industry professionals, as well as K-pop veterans like Yoon Jong Shin & Lee Sung Chul for her sultry vocals. In 2013, the starlet released her first solo album titled, "Goodbye 20," which helped her gain "Best New Artist" awards at both 2013 Music Melon Awards and 2014 Golden Disk Awards.
JAURIM
Jaurim has rocked the Korean music scene for over a decade, becoming one of the most prominent and successful modern rock bands. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Kim Yoona, the four-piece band continues to make a huge impact in the rock world with diverse range of genres, as well as delving into both dark and bright subject matters. Jaurim’s ninth LP, “Goodbye, Grief” has garnered nomination for “Best Band Performance” at 2013 Mnet Music Awards.
ASIAN CHAIRSHOT
Asian Chairshot caught the attention of music critics and fans alike with the release of its first EP titled, "Mask," in 2011. With their hard-hitting mix of psychedelic music, garage rock and alt-rock, the trio started playing major music festivals within 6 months of their debut and received nominations for “Best Rock Album” and “Best Rock Song” at the 2014 Korean Music Awards.
DAYBREAK
The quartet band Daybreak—consisting members Won Suk Lee, Jang Won Kim, Jung Yu Jong and Kim Sunil—created a major buzz with their hit single, “I Like,” in 2009 and soon after became a festival staple. Their lush combination of pop and rock sounds, as well as the mainstream success of their third album, “SPACEenSUM,” is helping the group gain fans by a thousand-fold.
Sultan of the Disco
The quirky, disco fivesome has captured music fans with their eye-popping outfits and funky stage personas. The group’s music, which is inspired by 60s and 70s vintage sounds, is an immediate ear-grabber.
